Event Design: Creating Christmas!
As busy event designers, Christmas explodes in the Mango Pie office usually resulting in it looking like Santa’s grotto. Tree balls, fairy lights and decorations are strewn across the office floor with glitter everywhere!
We’re jumping on the social media bandwagon and this year we created our very first Vlog. Our vision was to create two separate Christmas table designs that you can easily recreate at home. We teamed up with our trusted florist Nicky Doodson to help create some opulent and luxurious floral arrangements.
Last year red and white were our colours of choice and this year we wanted to step away from the traditional colours and create a more lavish and exuberant design using colour tones of gold and black with a hint of white here and there. The creative designs we come up with for our corporate events for our high profile clients can simply be created at home with a bit of imagination.
When it comes to luxury linen hire our first port of call is Gilded Linen, they have an incredible collection of fabulous textured fabrics includuing sequins, ruffles and rosettes and have recently added some beautiful accesories. Gilded Linen provided the luxe black and white satin table runners, elegant gold sequin cloths and beautiful geometric napkin rings were all provided by Gilded Linen. Spaceworks have an extensive range of high quality items abailable for hire. Spaceworks provided the stunning cuvee glassware, Fougère fine china, Wedgwood cutlery and black and white satin cloths.
Nicky’s design concept was to create a mix of short and slightly taller arrangements creating levels in deep red, green and creams. Seasonal flowers such as roses, amaryllis, hydrangea, eucalyptus, crab apples and berries were included within the stunning centrepieces.
We incorporated a variety of decorations from high-street stores to include within the table design. The black and gold favour crackers from Marks and Spencer are a fun and unique change to the traditional Christmas Cracker. The novel trio of copper turtle doves were from TK Maxx and cost between £1.49-£2.49. The stag place card holders are from Sainsbury
The DIY gold glitter crap apples placed down the table runner were a fun yet relatively messy addition to the table. You can purchase artificial crab apples from UK Garden Designs at £5.99 for 20. Head to your local craft shop such as Hobbycraft for some glue and loose gold glitter and prepare to get messy. An inexpensive yet cost effective design idea.
After the main table design had been created we used the floral arrangements on the mantelpiece and incorporated other décor such as gold glitter feathers from Marks and Spencer priced at £5.00 each and plush velvet and copper baubles from TK Maxx £5.99 for a pack of 3.
